Foil Removal: Ensuring Compliance and Safety
In retrofit insulation endeavors, complete foil removal is paramount to mitigate the risks associated with outdated foil insulation. Since 2004, the New Zealand Building Code has mandated bulk insulation as the sole approved material meeting compliance standards. Our seasoned professionals meticulously remove outdated foil insulation before installing superior bulk insulation, guaranteeing safety and adherence to regulations.

Ceiling Insulation for Retrofit Projects: Enhancing Comfort and Efficiency
Retrofit ceiling insulation optimises temperature regulation by retaining warmth, resulting in consistent and comfortable indoor climates year-round. Additionally, it significantly reduces monthly energy expenses across the property. We offer a selection of fit-for-purpose ceiling insulation products from renowned brands such as Bradford Gold, Pink Batts, Mammoth, and Knauf’s Earthwool Glasswool.
Underfloor Insulation for Retrofit Projects: Enhancing Stability and Protection
Retrofit underfloor insulation effectively retains heat, stabilising indoor temperatures while concurrently reducing energy consumption. Moreover, our premium underfloor insulation shields floorboards from moisture ingress, ensuring prolonged durability. Our array of underfloor insulation options includes rolls, batts, and quilts sourced from Mammoth, Bradford Gold, Pink Batts, and Knauf’s Earthwool Glasswool.

Since 1 July 2019, ceiling and underfloor insulation has been compulsory in all rental homes where it is reasonably practicable to install. It must comply with the regulations and be safely installed. Which regulations currently apply to your property depends on the date your tenancy agreement was signed or renewed.
Any new or renewed tenancies after 1 July 2021 must meet the healthy homes insulation standards. All rental properties will need to comply with these standards by 1 July 2025.
Cold and damp homes can have a negative impact on our health, especially on our respiratory system. According to the Asthma + Respiratory Foundation NZ, cold, damp, and moldy homes have been linked to respiratory infections, rheumatic fever, and asthma1. Living in a cold home can worsen asthma and other respiratory illnesses and increase the risk of heart disease and cardiac events2. Cold air, which is often dry, can cause the mucus that naturally coats your airways to quickly evaporate, making your airways irritated and narrow.
If you are experiencing asthma symptoms, it is important to seek medical attention. In the meantime, you can take steps to reduce the risk of asthma attacks by keeping your home warm and dry. You can also use a humidifier to add moisture to the air and prevent your airways from drying out.
